Hi,
I accidentally fig'd out portalnmms (basic gprs by vodafone) to function on nexus yesterday.

name : portalnmms
apn : portalnmms
proxy : 10.10.1.100
port : 9401
username and pass :not set
server : (blank)
mmsc: http://mms1.live.vodafone.in/mms
MMS proxy :10.10.1.100
MMS port 9401
MCC 404(automatic)
MNC(automatic)
authentication type : None
APN type : default

Works fine on my nexus froyo 2.2 FRF91.
Some issue with MMS, wont work with portalnmms or www.

PS: [Yes, access point name, and name of config profile, should be portalnmms]
Only the browser is able to connect to internet, not apps.

EDIT:
MMS works now on vodafone india
... (fig'd this out accidentally too).
apparently, the inbuilt Messaging app of nexus one (eclair and froyo), dont automatically resize pics, or they resize pics of size greater than 300kb.
So, you need to manually resize the pics/sounds you want to mms, to size not exceeding 275kb.
There are apps in market that do this.

Once this is sorted,
you need to create another APN config.
name : portalnmms
apn : portalnmms
proxy : 10.10.1.100
port : 9401
username and pass :not set
server : (blank)
mmsc: http://mms1.live.vodafone.in/mms
MMS proxy :10.10.1.100
MMS port 9401
MCC 404(automatic)
MNC(automatic)
authentication type : None
APN type : MMS

==> Now, make sure you have only two config's under Acess Point Names.
This means, If you have more than two, your MMS wont function.
Yes, one of your APN's can be www, and other portalnmms.
In my case both are portalnmms.

This superphone is not that smart

feedback would be appreciated. thanx.

Your welcome.
Did it work fine ?
(I mean basic gprs & MMS both)?

Please let me know.

To All--
MMS and Basic GPRS are the primary issues why many are not moving to android, so I hope the above info works

geotagger GPS

I am using D300 and have a geotagger GPS called easytagger. My idea GPS devoice is first, easy to install and use, because I don’t like to set complicated things. Second, catch GPS info quickly, and accurately. Third, do not affect any function that my camera has, like hotshoe and 10-pin shutter. And it should be small so I can carry it everywhere. That’s why I like my easytagger; it is perfect to include all my requirements.

Hey rohnit91, can you help me with these settings please.
i'm a Samsung Galaxt Apollo i5801 user. I want to use internet on my phone in order to get the apps. And to do that i want to use Vodafone GPRS.
I entered the settings as you mentioned but just at the last bit of information , ie, APN Type, there is no option to leave it blank on my phone. I can either enter Internet+MMS, Internet, or MMS. Please guide me on how to deal with this last bit of the settings. I have been trying to use the GPRS for so long.
Thanks in advance!

Here is how you setup...

first select Vodafone as you carrier.
Create a new APN (access point)

Name: What you like....
APN: www
Proxy:blank
Port: Blank
Username and password: Blank
Server: portalnmms
MMSC: http://mms1.live.vodafone.in/mms/
MMS proxy: 10.10.1.100
MMS Port: 9401
MCC and MNC values will be there automatically.
Authantication type: PAP
APN type: default (you would need to type it)

These settings would enable both VMC and MMS service at the same time, i am using it. and it works like a charm
Send me a message if there is any query.

Hey buudy,
I tried the setting mentioned by you .... but still facing probs

I have updated the all the details ... but for the "APN type" ...... i dont have the option to type ... i have to select frm a list of 3 options which are 1)internet+mms, 2)internet , and 3 )mms

could u please help
