Use the flash_image binary.
I think the syntax is:
flash_image recovery name-of-recovery.img

At least that's how it works on the N1. Never tried a G2X...
You should probably do some research first, because you typically need an insecure bootloader (s-off), and there may be some specific nuances...

Can you not do it through ROM Manager?

No see that's the thing, with the g2x the only sure way to make recovery(clockwork amon wont work) is to use nvflash on a computer.I did use rom manager and I did get cm7 running but after found out that all rom manager does is create a fake flash over the stock recovery.
I can use rom manager to boot into recovery but when holding vol- and power(same as n1) its the stock recovery.
Ok well thanks for help DR!

I may not have a nexus one anymore but this forum will always be home!

Sorry to see you go 40ftcobb,

But, if you haven't definetly check out the G2X forum for exact flashing instructions. Why won't Amon_Ra work?

Well enjoy

I will probably move to the Sensation or more likely a quad core in the fall/spring. As much as I love this phone--technology moves on. And, would like dual cameras. Maybe the next Nexus will have all that
