If I recall correctly, 7 vibrations indicates a hardware problem... :/

Hi there, I've been given a N1 which was working when they used it, now it's doing this 7 vibration thing and has not worked properly since I was given it.

I should point out that, on this page it is suggested to put the handset in the freezer. I have to say, I am this dumb to give it a shot (handset cost me nothing).... and it DID work... until the handset got to room temperature again.

Is there anything I could do to get this handset repaired?

You need to call htc because the 7 vibrations is a hardware problem, namely the CPU that is over heating that is why the freezer trick works because it keeps it cold. But other tan changing the CPU there is nothing you can really do.

Makes perfect sense, however the unit runs fine without a sim card (or airplane mode).... must be that extra processor power required?!

I'm not sure but I guess it would have to be because of that yes.
