HELP!!! Nexus one frozen at boot-up.....vibrates 7 times. WTF!!!!

I was at work today and i look at my phone and the screen is showing the boot up X


nothing was happening so i pulled the battery and it did the boot up screen then vibrates 7 times.


tried leaving the battery out, same thing.


tried doing the vol down/power thing and none of the functions, bootloader, recovery, or anything else are doing squat.


my phone was never rooted and it automatically updated to 2.3.6 just a few days ago.



what the hell is going on and can someone please help!?

If you haven't tried it yet, try booting it into safe mode and then see if it boots up. If it does, great, then try restarting it in normal mode.
If that doesn't work, I would suggest booting into safe mode again and erasing it and starting over from new out of the box.

If the Nexus One is freezing or won’t start properly, you may want to try to start it in Safe Mode. Safe Mode will allow you to start the smartphone with the default software running so you have a chance to disable any software you’ve installed that may be causing the problem.

Perform these steps:

1. Power the device off. Take the battery out if it won’t turn off normally.

2. Power the device on.

3. When the logo appears, press and hold the the track ball.

4. Continue holding the Menu button until you see the home screen.

The words Safe Mode should appear in the lower left corner if you performed the steps correctly.

i tried holding the trackball during startup but nothing happens, it just stays on the X logo.

If I recall correctly, seven vibrations indicates a hardware problem... :/
