Exclamation Android OS Drains Battery !!!?

I have a Nexus one and i updated to gingerbread about a week ago, since around then ive been noticing that the battery life has has been drastically drained,
Ill leave a fully charged and happy phone by the bed when i go to sleep, and when i wake up its chewed half way through the battery.

And heres the weird part, when i look at the "Battery Usage" stats in the settings, its always the 'Android OS' thats taking up all the life, ranging anywhere from 50% to 80% sometimes it calms down on its own but, this really is'nt acceptable !!!

apparently this isnt isolated either, >Google Forum (from lasy year)

Should i be downgrading to Froyo?
Is that possible?
Is there a . . . Cure?
Why is this happening?
Please Help!

I have noticed the same thing, about a week or two before the GB upgrade.
I am hoping someone can help us out with understanding what is going on.

Yup, all the usual stuff, nothing more or unusual other than the OS itself. I thought it might have something to do with the Gingerbread update but apparently Davids been having the same problem, Before the update. . .
I was really starting to love this phone. . .

I've checked the apps and the only ones listed are LauncherPro, Antivirus, and the Folder Organizer program. I rarely see the Handcent app listed there. I am beginning to wonder if some app(s) is hiding somehow in the Android Operating System. I don't know if that is possible though.

My Nexus One had 100% battery life at 9pm. I woke up at 6:30am to a battery with 38%; and under what has been using battery:

Android OS 63%
Cell Standby 10%
Phone Idle 9%
Anti Virus 5%
Maps 4%
akmd 3%
Display 2%
Wi-Fi 2%

I had done a wipe and start new before the GB update, I think I am going to do it again today. This just doesn't seem right.

After this posting, I plugged my Nexus One in to charge. I checked these stats again and it has not registered being plugged in to charge.
10h 22m 39s on battery.
Shouldn't this have reset since it was plugged in to charge?
