Display won't turn back on
Been having this issue for about a month... essentially the display will not turn back on after turning off (going black for power saver). The phone is still on but pressing the on/unlock button on top will not power the display back up. It only pulsated a light on the trackball once. I have to take the battery out and restart... I have it set for 30 minutes display on time (maximum) in the settings... but it's killing my battery life. Any ideas why this happens and if there's anything I can do? I can't recall any major trauma, such as dropping, water ingress etc...
Thanks... |

Sounds like the power button is going bad?
Can you still use the power button to turn phone ON/OFF? I would start looking into trackball wake or volumn button wake |

Thanks fo rthe reply. I looked at that... and the button is actually working fine. I can use it when powering on the device after pulling the battery... and also turn the display off...
The interesting thing is that if I charge it for a while... it can come back... but most of the time it will not... |

I think your power button is at the early stage of failure.
I would still look into trackball wake |

Have you tried a wipe to factory default to see if that helped?

No no no, don't wipe it. Do you by any chance have Cyanogen installed? Because you can set it to wake from pressing the trackball.

No I don't have Cyanogen installed... still don't think it's the button hardware itself... but will install and try it...

It might be an error with software mapping. Cyanogen is something I recommend to all. It's a really good system. Be sure to follow each instruction with the install of it and make sure in every way to back up all of your data before you even start the process. Use the stable build (6.1.1 is the newest) and also install the Google add-on. To boot into your bootloader, restart your phone and hold down the trackball on boot to go into the loader. From there, use the instructional at Unlock and Root a Nexus One. This helped an unbelievable amount.

Same issue
UGH!!! This is driving me nuts. I don't know what to do.
Mine is not rooted. It's only happened in the last 3 charges... but two of the three charges it happened, they were both on the same battery. Could be just a coincidence. Last edited by capvincenzo; 03-15-2011 at 09:11 PM. |
