Gallery displays all images on device

The Gallery displays all images on the device including icons / images used by applications. How do I choose to display only those pictures taken by the camera and specific folders on the device sdcard?

I think your SD card is corrupted try going to your SD card and check the "Pictures Folder." Make sure it only has pictures of what you want in there.

This has nothing to do with being Rooted, also the sdcard is not faulty.
It's the way the gallery works...Hoping they fix it myself...it is a PITA.

It's not the way my gallery works... perhaps rooting gives the gallery access to stuff it shouldn't, as well as you getting access to it?

Use a file browser and add a . (period) to the start of the folder name that has those icons and pictures you don't want to show.

You can also create a file called ".nomedia" and nothing in that folder will be seen. I like this option better because some file browsers will also exclude seeing anything with a "." in front of it. If you do this you can at least see the folder and files.

Another option is getting a program to specifically hide files you dont want seen. I use PhotoVault and VideoVault.

So in my case I would need to add a period infront of the music folder... will that screw my MP3's?

The gallery will show all images on the sdcard. Rooted or Not.

2 ways to fix it....

Place a . in the folder name - .Foldername
or
Place a file in the folder called .nomedia
