with my understanding,
NO. Smart Dialer isn't come with Nexus One's OS that is Hero's thing. However you can download other phonebook apps with this feather on.

Why not just click the google search on the homescreen, type the first few letters of who you want to call, and hit their number? Or do liek I do and add contacts to the homescreen directly.

I haven't explored that well yet but i immediately downloaded a fun app called Tap Dialer. The Speed Dial number shows up all by itself in the entire screen and you just tap the screen to match the number...once, twice etc

So if I'm walking around outside I can tap ONCE for Number One which is my son and it dials him. It's pretty cool.

I wanted that because I'm a pet sitter/dog walker and walking giant dogs is not conducive to phones but sometimes you need to make a phone call. It's also good for hands free driving although I dont talk on the phone much driving.

Tap Dialer

or you can use voice command to dial phone for you. just push and Hold the search icon on the bottom right to activate the voice command and said dial " name" on mobile or home.

LOL....sorry allyriane, but I had to laugh! "There HAS to be an easier way"

I'm glad you were able to find it, and thanks to flow for the heads-up!

You can also create shortcuts on your home screens for contacts you dial frequently.

On an empty homescreen space, tap-hold, select shortcuts, select direct dial, and select your contact. I have about 5-6 shortcuts on a separate homescreen for one-touch dialing.
