Fully respect your position my honourable friend, this post is just to clarify what rooting is for those a bit unsure of android terminology (though i do admit it does sway more to the dark side), and give a few links to some handy posts.

Aseems - the Yoda of nexus one forum!

LOL I had you pencilled in as 'Emperor', but you're right - 'Darth Slice' has a better ring to it!

You should add

You lose your warranty if you root.

Rooters beware.

That's not true.

The old way of rooting did invalidate the warranty, because you had to unlock the bootloader. Not Anymore. The one-click root app is designed to root your phone without unlocking said bootloader, leaving your warranty perfectly intact.

You can also reverse the process and unroot with one click. No reason not to see what rooting has to offer you IMHO.

My Day YOU Have Made !!!

Yoda was originally named Buffy. No, really. In Lucas’ earliest outlines for the sequel, Luke meets a supernatural entity named Buffy, or Bunden Debannen. Here’s how Lucas described it:

Buffy very old — three or four thousand years. Kiber crystal in sword? Buffy shows Luke? Buffy the guardian. “Feel not think.”

And Lucas concludes by saying Luke will become the chosen one, “the human Buffy.” In later drafts, he thought of Yoda as a kind of small frog, and Yoda had a full name: Minch Yoda.

In the earliest script draft, Minch has the immortal line: “Skywalker. Skywalker. And why do you come to walk my sky, with the sword of a Jedi knight?… I remember another Skywalker.”

That would've become an epic quote.
