User interface complaint/request

This is my first non-keyboard phone, so bear with me as I get accustomed to the UI. However, two issues are really bothering my use of this phone:

  1. The standby mode is very cumbersome. To save the battery, I understand it has to go into a reduced-power mode, but I can't tolerate the two-step: power button, then swipe the unlock icon.
  2. Similarly, answering a call with one hand is too hard. If I am driving and only have one hand to manage the phone, getting the swipe right is a real pain - I have missed calls because I couldn't manage it. Every other phone I have had (dozens) enabled "any-key" answer.
Any tricks I am missing? Thanks!

Tip: Don't use your phone while driving. This might help.

Seconded, considering that people are 4x more likely to get in a car accident while distracted. Of course, I am biased as I personally got hit by a car with a distracted driver. Worst six months of my life.

OK, so since everyone seems to think this is a forum on driving, let me re-phrase my question in hopes that the original problem can be discussed:

This is my first non-keyboard phone, so bear with me as I get accustomed to the UI. However, two issues are really bothering my use of this phone:

  1. The standby mode is very cumbersome. To save the battery, I understand it has to go into a reduced-power mode, but I can't tolerate the two-step: power button, then swipe the unlock icon.
  2. Similarly, answering a call with one hand is too hard. If I am at home and have a drink(water, because I am sure if it was liquor or caffeinated, that would stir some great debate) in my left hand and only have one hand to manage the phone, getting the swipe right is a real pain - I have missed calls because I couldn't manage it. Every other phone I have had (dozens) enabled "any-key" answer.
Any tricks I am missing? Thanks!

As a prior iPhone user, I can tell you that it may be cumbersome and a PITA at first, but you will get used to it.....
