How do I make outgoing calls by bluetooth headset?

New N1 user - 4 days new. Had a Blackberry Curve and would make outgoing phone calls in the car or just in the office by depressing the button on the bluetooth headset and giving a command - for example "Call John Doe, mobile". The phone would then repeat the contact name and phone preference (mobile in my example) and connect the call. I knew that this was a Blackberry software function but I expected Android to have something similar. Havn't been able to find this information. Anyone?

Voice dialing will be available with the 2.2 update which will be available ota officially any day now.

My N1 says it is using Android 2.1 update 1. (Build ERE27) This update downloaded as soon as I started the N1 when I got it recently. There is an icon that is labeled "Voice Dialer". It does not work great but does work. Is this the voice dialer you said will be in 2.2 or is it to be different. I do not see how I can access this program from a bluetooth headset since I have to start the application to give it a command.

im pretty sure the Voice Dialler app was there in 2.1 aswell, but it should work. Not that well tbh tho

IMO the voice dialer works just fine.

Getting BT to work with the voice dialer it is not supported with 2.1 but has been purported in 2.2 .

It is supported in 2.1 on the Milestone. Too bad it is not on the N1 as well.

BT voice dialing does work natively in 2.2. I use it frequently now. Just took a little practice to get the voice commands sequence figured out.
