I was just thinking the same thing while reading through some of the posts about it...Either way it is going to be a win-win situation because Cyan has a proven stability record plus all the extra goodies. Ive read where some folks are drooling over wi-fi tethering which as you know..Cyanogen has provided to us rooted users already.

I will go back to stock first, do a nandroid backup and wipe and everything and flash CM 6 right after its out.

thinking about checking it out stock, but I think CM will come out before I get OTA. Maybe we can flash the new 2.2 ROM instead of a restore?

Hey guys how do we get the ota update with the stock rom with amon ra recovery? I went back to stock but with the ra recovery and it would not let me do the first ota when I went back to stock last week. I want to go back to stock to get the froyo update straight away. How can I get the stock recovery image?

Knowing Cyanogen, it's highly unlikely stock will come out before CM

The reason I keep my phone stock - I'd rather depend on Google to get my updates than independent ROM developers whom I've only briefly read about in a couple forums. I don't know these guys. What happens to my phone if they disappear?

I've worked online as a programmer since 1991 and have seen quite a lot of sources vanish overnight. However I feel confident that fate will not beset Google.

If I still have this phone a few years from now and it's not getting timely OTA updates, I may then decide to go rogue and root.

But for now I like the idea that I will get all the latest OTA updates automatically from Google.
