Longer to charge with USB vs AC adapter??

The first time I charged with the included AC adapter, it seemed to take a lot less time to charge, maybe 2 hours when completely drained? but it seems to take a lot longer by using the USB cord. Is there a reason why?

Your USB port is spec'd @ 500ma. The wallwarts AC/DC adapters are rated @ 1 or 2 amps, and the N1 pulls around 730ma current. IOW, the wall charger is like a buffet, with food instantly available as long as you are hungry...the USB is like a five course meal, small portions, and a slow waiter.

which makes the USB a more 'gentle' charge.

True...less temperature increase, which leads to better cell longevity.

Like alphawave7 said, the AC charger takes half the time of the USB charging due to the amps.

Official google specs Nexus One Phone - Feature overview & Technical specifications

"Charges at 480 mA from USB, at 980 mA from supplied charger" which most people find it Fully charges around 2 hours on AC and 4 hours on USB.

I know. I just wanted to tell you guys how long it took me to charge with the USB. I was thinking of getting the car charger with the USB connection. Now I'm thinking of sticking with the AC car charger.
