I was going to go subsidized untilled I crunched the numbers. I don't understand ever bringing in a contract with a cell phone carrier any more. Its way cheaper to be out of one.

I bought it unlocked. Expensive but its worth it.

Also at $529 its actually cheaper than the iphone, palm pre, and droid at full price.

From what I saw the non-contract plans are around $10 cheaper / month for the minimum 500 min w/ unlimited txt and data. Are you guys getting better rates?

^well if you subsidize the phone the $79 plan (500 min/data/web) is mandatory. but if you buy it unlocked....that same plan and the cheapest is $59.

yeah it doesn't make sense.

The phone is unlocked no matter which option you take when buying it. You are right about the prices...I guess I just looked at the numbers wrong before. Looks like you make up the price difference of buying the non-subsidized in 17.5 months with the savings of the cheaper plan ($59.99 vs. $79.99). If you look at it over the full 24 months of a contact, going unsubsidized saves you $130, if I figured it correctly.

This is correct. I went into a T-Mobile store yesterday and talked about the phone + plans. Unfortunately, you can not get an employee discount on an unsubsidized plan.
