Does Nexus One work with prepaid gophone sim card ?

Hi, I'm only staying in the US for half a year, so I don't want to buy a phone with a long-term plan. Do you know if I can use the sim-card from my at&t prepaid phone ?

Or do you have any other options to recommend ? I will mostly use the phone in places where wifi is available, and just a few minutes a week as a regular phone, before I return to Norway.

Thanks,

torkel

Interesting question. I don't have a definite answer, but I think the sim card would work. You would not be able to use 3G because AT&T and T-Mobile use different freq for 3G

I have a couple of Gophones myself, so I would be interested in knowing the answer.

Phone: Nexus One/iPhone 3Gs 32GB
Carrier: AT&T
At&t

I haven't tried the GoPhone, but all the unlocked phones I have used have always accepted any SIM card prepaid/ or contract. I did notice the balance being used faster when using data. I currently put my iPhone's contract sim in the n1 and works perfectly! Edge network only of course, which I am fine with.

See this post about using Go Phone sim in Nokia N900:
maemo.org - Talk - View Single Post - Looking for the cheapest US pre-paid SIM

Can anyone confirm if the Go Phone sim and prepaid data only plan will work with the Nexus One the way it works with the N900?

BTW, I am OK with 2G speeds (because I'm usually on WiFi anyway).

100 MB of data doesn't seem like very much under the prepaid scenario in the link.

I'm on WiFi all the time. In the last month I only used 50 MB of VZW 3g data. All the rest of my data usage was on WiFi (free). So this solution would be very good for me.

Does anyone know if it will actually work? I'm hoping someone has actually tried it. (I'll try it as soon as I get my Go Phone sim card...)
