How to turn internet off?

Is there a way to deactivate internet functions except through wi-fi?
As I plan on using the device as a work tool for geotagging pictures, I don't plan on buying a data plan.
In that case, they charge a ridiculous amount of money (5cents/kb I think) and I want to be sure not have a bill if I touch an icon by mistake.

So, is it possible to turn internet functions off?

you can use apndroid to toggle mobile data off, and netcounter to show you how much data is going over wifi and mobile to ensure that it is working correctly - both free apps from market

Is there anyway you can set it to only turn data off when roaming?

menu>settings>wireless and networks>mobile networks> make sure data roaming is not ticked. Haven't tested it, but would assume that is what it does
