As for the last one that posted on this forum I emailed the guy and after was able to trace his IP to Nigera after he said he was of course from london. He only wanted payment via western union, and refused to send a serial. Not that I thought for a second he was legit, but its a good way to waste the scammers time.

Rules to live by;

1. If its too good to be true, it probably is.
2. NEVER pay western union
3. NEVER wire "back" money after depositing a "cashiers check" in any circumstance.
4. NEVER deal with anyone from Nigeria online
5. Only buy from a reputable online source such as amazon.com, newegg, etc...

Beat me to number 1. People usually get ripped off because of these "good deals".

People fall for it all the time. I'm sure they don't think they are so smart, just smarter than the people who they know they will find that will fall for their scams. They take their money and disappear faster than they can be caught. I'm sure they get caught sometimes, but there's a reason they operate from Nigeria. Not to knock the Nigerians, I'm sure the people concerned with doing what's right are doing the best they can. I'm sure there are also those in the government who are corrupt, just like everywhere else, including the U.S..

What I think is funny is the guy at the head of our cybersecurity here in the U.S. who tried to claim there is no "Cyberwar" going on. Geez - if that's really what he's thinking, boy are we in trouble.
