I'm using the CyanogenMod 5.0 Beta 4 with +150MB free RAM, I managed to have 316MB free when closing all tasks :P
The ROMs are faster and stable

So I assume you did a Google search for this ROM? Were you able to backup the stock ROM so you can revert back if necessary? Thanks for the input!

faster usability and it HAD faster PiBenchmark (default is around 2700 and the JIT Mod had under 1000 but were to buggy and has been removed again)
Yes you can do a nandroidbackup in the recovery menu. Another thing why it's great to root: Nexus One - andere Trackballfarbe bei Benachrichtigung [Release]
