deactivating default sms application

Hi all,

Searched but could not find an answer. I have installed handcent sms application. Now I receive two notifications for every text message?

Is there a way to de-activate default phone SMS application without uninstalling it?

Settings in old message application and uncheck notifications. Now you will only get notifications from handcent.

Hi everybody,

i also had the issue with 2 notifications.
But now i've got a curious problem.
i had rooted my phone a few days ago. Since this i can't find the app in my menü anymore. in my sys/app folder there is the sms/mms apk. i tried to install it but there was an error message.
How can i resolve it again that i have the original app again because i want to uncheck the notifications in the original app.
