Two options:
A - Unlock your bootloader, flash a custom recovery via fastboot, flash su zip.
B - Use passimg method to revert to an earlier version and root with an exploit (rageagainstthecage, gingerbreak, etc).

There is a much better solution: Bexboot - a Superbbot "fork" especially for Android GRK39F on passion devices.

Bexboot is a boot image that when flashed, will root your device the first time you boot (installing su and the superuser APK). No need to flash the system partition, no need to use ADB, no messing with the contents of your data partition, no overwriting the shipped ROM on your device, just flash the boot image and you’re done! You'll have an untouched stock ROM with root access.

Can I directly use GingerBreak v1.10 to root N1 with Android stock 2.3.6 without going to previous version

Rooting is the same as you did with Android 2.3.4

When you have free the bootloader, than you can not root the phone with Bexboot or one-click.

Why do you want to downgrade?
I'm thinking of rooting for storage space, but why go back an update?

Hi,

Since my upgrade to 2.3.6 after some time my camera stopped working along with flash light as well & lately when I make a call or receive it screen goes blank & I am unable to cut the call or use dial pad, moreover after call ends phone kind of dies & I need to remove battery & reboot it ! hence thinking of going back with the hope that it might solve my issue.I have been using this phone for more than a year & love it so do not want to replace it.
