Like the title says its a humble and personal request to all those of you out there building apps, personally my knowledge on the subject limits to spelling the word 'Application'
That said, it would be absolutely divine if someone could build a Radio app, NO roots, NO custom roms, NO limits, NO wifi Just a simple, old school FM and or AM radio for the Nexus one. Now i dont even know if its possible but, ive been reading up on the subject from here n there n from what i can gather, N1 already has all the hardware to make it happen, and apparently its possible on some custom roms, so then why not? I enjoy music, infact i love it, makes life easier, now it dosent seem fair with a phone like Nexus one which i ![]() ![]() by the way to have to be connected to the internet constantly, or listen to a set list of songs over n over n over again [ive got a huge collection but still] to enjoy some music, and maybe the news. And hey its easier on the battery too. Soooo, the only reason i guess it hasnt been made or isnt in the market yet is i suppose because of some. . .technical issue? Please help me understand Thanx PS: Talk to me like im four years old, im a lil slow on all this stuff. |

FM radio requires a lot of changes to the ROM framework, which apps don't have access to without being rooted...

And I'm not sure if it saves much on the battery either. You'd think it would but communication with the FM radio (no AM frequencies) is done via BlueTooth so that has to be enabled at the same time.
I haven't used the FM radio much but if I had to travel by public transport or something to get to work I might use it more often. |
