installing apps on sd card?
Is it possible to download the apps from marketplace and installed it on the microsd card (4gb)? If not, is there a way to copy apps from phone internal memory to sd card so you can free up internal space.

You can root and install apps2sd.
However you may not need to - only the apps (a few mb at most, the smaller ones being only a few kb) need to be installed on the phone.. the application data goes on the SD card anyway.. so you can install far more than you'd expect. |

Sorry for a noob question. I rooted already my N1, but I'm not sure if the apps2sd has been installed already within cyanogen5.0.5.3 or I need to install this separately.
I want to install all my third party apps to the sd card. Please help. Thanks! |

You need to partition the SD card in recovery. Be careful though, this will wipe everything currently on your SD card, so make sure to back up anything you want to keep. Basic instructions (from my memory) based on Amon RA recovery:
1. Back up your SD card. Just copy its contents to a folder on your computer. 2. Power off phone, then boot into recovery (Vol-down + power). 3. Select "Partition sdcard." 4. Select "Partition SD." 5. Choose your EXT and swap size. I did a 1024Mb ext partition and 0 swap on a 16gig class 6 card...if you're not sure, just stick with the defaults. 6. Select "SD:ext2 to ext3" to convert to an ext3 file system. 7. Back out of partition submenu and "Reboot system now". 8. After the phone has rebooted, go to Setting>Applications and enable Apps2SD. This will cause all new apps to install to the SD card by default. 9. If you wish, copy your backup back onto your SD card. I'm not sure, but I think CM automatically moves previously installed apps to your new partition automatically. Yeah, I think that's it...but again this is all from memory. If anyone else has any to add that I missed, chime in! |
