maybe to plug it on his laptop when he's not at home to tether without rooting the phone, that is the only thing that I can think of he's trying to do.

I switched from Symbian to Android on January 6 2010... ...then I sold my N1 to get the AT&T version but I'll wait for a qwerty solution from google or better with AT&T band support and got the Nokia E75... lol |

Lithium batteries don't require conditioning, the memory effect only occurs in NiMH and NiCad batteries. The only real need to discharge a lithium battery is to calibrate the battery with the phones internal gauge, every 30-40 charging cycles.

Well, I can think of one really good reason. You want to transfer files or whatever else between your phone and your laptop but your laptop is running low on battery, thus not charging your phone off of your laptops battery would be pretty ideal. I actually could see myself running into this situation quite a bit in the future, and have in the past with my iPod.
