Thanks USSR. I'll do that next time I flash the Desire ROM. It was a little too laggy for me so i switched back to Cyanogen. I love the UI though. Once there is a beta I'll be all over it.
Maybe I'm crazy, but I think you misunderstood USSR... he means to open up gmail on your computer browser, not on your phone. Then do this:

Ok that's cool. I just merged the contacts, but on my phone it still lists multiple contacts for each person. How do I set it to only pull my google contacts rather than google contacts + my SIM contacts?

EDIT: I just switched back to Sense for a change of pace. I love the all the widgets, but it is much laggier than Cyanogen.

Ok guys im a complete newbie to N1 phones. I read the guide and it helped me, just have a few questions:
- Is recovery neccesary, if so how do i restore back if something goes wrong?
- I have Enomther's TheOfficial Nexus1 v2.9.3, can i use this?. Also, where do i put this zip file, in phone or SD card? Also, do i need to wipe for installing Enomther's ROM. My phone has firmware 2.1 and build number ERD79. If needed to wipe, how do i do it?
- Also, should i flash ROM from sd card or from computer via USB?

I think you should do some more reading. Recovery is essential.

Nandroid is an Option in Recovery that will completely restore your system to the time of your Nandroid backup.

I would do Nandroid backups often.

If you are Rooted you can flash any rom (for the N1) you want. Just be sure to do a full wipe first. the wipe options are in the custom recovery.
