pretty sure you supposed to use the volume buttons on the recovery mode, not the trackball. also try removing and reinstalling the battery.

confused about how it says "Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk".

you might want to try and reflash whatever recovery you are using. If you want to go back to the stock ROM then, use the NANDROID back-up you made before flashing Desire (if you did one), or you can Google Nexus One stock ROM download or the Froyo ROM. I think the stock ROM for T-Mobile is ERE27.

If you can't use recovery because of the trackball, you must get into the bootloader. Unfortunately, you need the trackball for that too. :\

Have you tried getting into the bootloader by holding down the trackball and pressing power to turn the phone on? If you can get to the bootloader you can flash an update.zip from the command line with fastboot.

Alternatively, if the phone is currently recognized by your computer, you can issue "adb reboot bootloader" from the command line. I'm assuming you have the Android SDK installed on your computer since your already rooted.

Is your phone in the bootloader now? If so, you need download fastboot. You can get it here.

For Mac: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/585624/fastboot-mac.zip
For Windows: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/585624/fastboot.exe

Place it in the "Tools" directory of your Android SDK install. If you don;t have the SDK yet, get it here Android SDK | Android Developers and install it first.
