Flashing Your RADIO!!!!

This is not a guide or a HOW TO.

This is a simple warning.

This is not meant to discourage you from Flashing a new radio. This is meant only to warn you of the risks so that you take caution.

When Flashing the radio Always, Always, Always, do an Md5sum on the image before flashing. GOOGLE IT IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW!
Always Have a FULL BATTERY WHEN FLASHING THE RADIO. PLUG IN YOUR PHONE.

DO NOT FOR ANY REASON INTERRUPT THE RADIO FLASH! DO NOT PULL YOUR BATTERY!
DO NOT UNPLUG THE PHONE!

AS LONG AS YOU FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE RULES YOU WILL BE JUST FINE! NO PROBLEMS AT ALL AND YOU CAN HAVE GOOD 3G COVERAGE!

I AM INCLUDING A LINK TO A GUI (GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE FOR THE COMPUTER JARGON HINDERED) THAT WILL MAKE UNLOCKING YOUR PHONE AN EASY PAINLESS PROCESS.

A4D (MAC, PC, LINUX VERSIONS AVAILABLE)!

I have been searching for the same thing and came only found this so far. I've read that you don't have to flash the radio, so if you don't have to and it's the only way to brick the phone then why do it? What advantage is there to flashing the radio?

I'm assuming, from the op's "you can have good 3g" that it is an update that allows the phone to receive a better signal, however I would love someone to explicitly say this and also tell us of other benefits associated with flashing the radio.

Thanks

Potential improvements include:
-better call quality and reception (more clear and less drops)
-better 3G/H reception (bouncing between Edge/3G/H constantly)
-better WIFI connectivity
-better bluetooth connectivity
-possibly improved battery performance (due to improvements in the above items)

If you don't have any issues with any of these, it really makes no sense to update the radio image...and the list is only of POTENTIAL improvements, as always, YMMV. Much of it really depends on your carrier and how good their service is in your area.

By the way the only battery performance improvement you'll probably notice is if you have the Edge/3G constant switching problem. From what I understand, that's a battery killer...

Yeah, the constant switching is killing my battery. I'm lucky if I can make it through a day... and that's with no calls.

Question. I have already rooted and loaded CyanoGen mod. Am I able to now go back and update the radio or does the entire process need to be replicated again?

I'm using the cyan rom and i'm having some minor 3G issues. It often switches back and forth between "H" and "3g" while downloading/browsing. Also while i'm in the market looking at different apps, the connection often gets interrupted and it will say Retry or Cancel. When this happens, it still shows "H" but the up arrow is stuck and there is no down arrow.

Anyone else getting these problems?
