We're Taking Android To The Nex Level
Last night, I took the plunge and rooted my Nexus.

It was my first time rooting, and I researched and checked out 10++ guides on how to root, and each were slightly different so it made it difficult.

Eventually I got the adb commands down, and after unsuccessfully attempting to flash the recovery a bunch of times, i got Cyanogen on my nexus.

Its AMAZING. Super fast, wifitether, trackball colors, torch, overclocking, and more. I'm still working on getting back all of the apps i downloaded, but I'm getting there. PLUS, all my apps are working as they did before the root. Having 200mb++ extra of ram is pretty nice too.

My question is for other rooted nexus users! Now that I have root on my phone, what do you recommend as far as apps/roms/anything that is interesting? Been searching around and finding various root apps, but I'm a bit lost as I'm still somewhat new to the rooting.

So far, the Nexus is running MUCH more stable than it was before.

I am using Home++ with all 7 screens covered in apps/widgets. Before on stock, I'd get force closes rather often, from the amount of stuff.

So far, I haven't had ANY forcecloses whatso ever on Cyanogen with the exact same set up before root.

I just pushed the newest trackball notification succession, so not only does the trackball light up different colors, it shows MULTIPLE colors in a row for emails/text/voicemails/tweets.

I haven't used my task killer at ALL, and I have no more slow down or shuttering even with many apps open! Cyanogen really did maximize the rom!

You need to do some researching and searching on this site!

I used a combination of sites.

Full Update Guide - Nexus One Firmware to CyanogenMod - CyanogenMod Wiki

Video: How to unlock and root a Nexus One – Android and Me

Unlock and Root a Nexus One - Nexus one - Lifehacker

I also flipped around all over XDA and here searching for help.

I'm using Cyanogen 5.0.4.1 with Google Addon.
Amon RA 1.6

Cyanogen has the trackball messaging notification built in, but I added on for the trackball succession:
[MOD] Trackball Notifications in Succession [v 0.4] - xda-developers

The hardest part I encountered was the ADB commands. Once you get the ADB commands down, then the actual flashing/booting is extremely easy.

Here is a video of the trackball succession notification!
Green for email, magenta for aim, orange for text. I'm not sure if it can do more than 3 in a row.

But I'm not sure about battery length yet. Its been running well but I haven't had time to test it fully.

Sorry for the low quality. My camera is horrible and youtube made it even worse. :P
