You guys do realise you are making it hard for me right? I keep trying to resist & you guys keep going on and on, I'm now confused as to why I don't want to root.

The trackball colors were about 99% of the reason why I rooted

I missed them SOOO much from my old Sidekick. All the other extras are just bonuses!

Sitting here watching my nexus flash blue and orange makes me glad I did. Just do it!

If you have made purchases in the store for apps, do you lose the applications and have to pay for them all over again if you root?

Thanks for posting. Please keep us updated as to how the process goes and if you find out anything we should know about.

I'm close to rooting, but want to hear how Verizon is going to serve up the Nexus (what kind of contract requirements specifically), so I might want to sell my T-Mobile version soon. (Long story short: T-Mobile's phone service has been really disappointing. Last night with 3G and four full bars I couldn't send a text message for more than an hour and a half. I ended up having to send it through Google Voice. Voice calls usually have static and weird echos. No dropped calls though yet. Still thinking about it though though.)

No.

You will have to use a backup program such as Titanium Backup or Astro to back up all your apps and data.

Even if you don't, you can still re-download anything you have purchased/paid for, for free from the Marketplace.

is that the fastboot? what is the difference between pauls and Cyanogen?? is there anything that needs to be done to the sd card while rooting and is the sim card ok being left on the phone while rooting?
the only reason i said that is because i know paul's rom supports flash so you can watch videos directly from the website. thats a big plus to me. dont know if it supports the color trackball tho, neon monster might know whether that function works on all rooted phones or only on cyanogen. Im pretty sure both cards are ok left in, you are rooting the phone not the cards. But dont quote me tho
