I rooted mine a few days ago and love it. If you don't care about the colored trackball then you should do it simply because of the amount of free memory that cyanogenmod offers. That alone, sold me. The OS is MUCH snappier that the default... Its as dramatic as the speed of the iPhone 3g to the iPhone 3gs for those of you who are skeptical.

Oh Man. I'm so tempted. Can't do it today anyway.

QUESTION: If Google didn't want it unlocked and rooted (sounds like a movie eh?) then why did they put in the potential for a colored trackball and not use it? Why did they leave so much memory untapped?

I'm not sure why but its that exact reason I decided to root. By the time they bring all that in there will probably be a nexus two.

Is anyone here old enough to remember the commercial, "Where did you learn to do that, son? I learned it from watching you dad!!!"

Hahaha...

this thread makes me want to root for the speed. I'm scared ill brick my phone though. This is my first android phone so I'm still kind of a virgin to some aspects of the OS.

Don't forget to share all the cool stuff you are going to do with this NEW ROOTED PHONE, because that was why NeonMonster started this thread to begin with... hahaha...
