**FIXED**Is my SD card fubar?
Weird things are going on tonight with my nexus one.
I was trying to copy some music files over to my phone using iSyncr wireless.. There were 4 news songs I had that for some reason it wouldn't copy over correctly. I decided to reboot my phone to see if that would maybe fix the problem. However, when I rebooted my phone, it now appears that my second ext2 partition I had setup for link2sd has died. link2sd is no longer seeing the partition and therefore none of the apps that I had moved are working anymore  I figured I had better do a backup of my SD card ASAP! but when I attempt to copy everything off my SD card to my comptuer, it spontaneously dismounts itself from my computer and the phone turns off the USB storage function. Is this an indication that my SD card could be on it's way out?

crisis averted!
I asked the resident Linux guru at my work to give me a hand with my SD card. We mounted it in his Linux system and ran an fsck against the ext2 partition on my SD card. The fsck found some corrupt files and repaired them. I then mounted the SD card back in my phone and now link2sd and all my apps moved using it are working again! god bless Linux!

Oh I know! If it wasn't for the linux guy at my work I'd be screwed.
It got me thinking though. I think I might just pick up a second sd card now and mirror the partitions and all the files into it so that if this happens again all I have to do is put the backup sd card in. Only down side is I'd have to be religious about mirroring the two cards. Is this overkill do you think? Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk

Sounds like overkill to me... Why not just back up to your PC, and recover if/when you need to?

Yeah that is a good idea.
I think what I might do is look at maybe doing up a bash script to automate the whole thing. That way I can get access to the ext2 partition and the fat32 partition. Let's say the card were to die, and I had a back up of the ext2 partition. I should be able to just copy all the files (dalvik cache, application file, libraries) to a new SD card once I recreate the partition tables right? Everything should come back up as if nothing happened?

Exactly - the nandroid will backup your ext, dalvik, etc., and your backup to the PC will also have the copy of your nandroids, so you should just be able to drag and drop in your windows explorer or whatever...
To restore, just partition the new card, copy the PC backup onto the card, then restore your latest nandroid from the card - MAGIC!

I've read about the nandroid backup before. Is it as complicated and dangerous as it sounded?
would just tarring the ext2 position on the sd card and copying that to the computer accomplish the sane thing? Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk

Seriously? Oh sweet. I was reading that I can use clockworkmod recovery to do it. Are you stop unhappy with the recent version of their recovery?
