Custom Ringtones/Alarms

Just as an FYI, if you would like to use custom ringtones etc. Simply Making a /Media/Audio/Ringtones (and Notifications and Alarms) folder type style on the SD, Android will read this and the new files will show up in picking a ringtone, etc.

For those homesick for BlackBerry ringtones - here they are in MP3 format.

Talking Classic ringtone

A couple years ago I dug up a recording of the hotline phone ringer from the "In Like Flint" spy movies made in the 60s. This ring sound was later copied/modified for the Austin Powers movies. It is a series of pseudo touch-tones fired in rapid succession. You can get the original here:

http://www.rehorst.com/mrehorst/flintphone_a.wav

You may need to convert to mp3 (I don't know yet- my nexus one is supposed to arrive tomorrow!).

Enjoy!

Let me make sure I understand this correctly. I go to my DCIM file and create a Media Folder, then in that folder create an Audio folder, then in that folder create an Ringtones folder - and it will show up when I want to assign ringtones?

This does not seem to work for Alarms and Notifications. Anyone else get this to work?

UPDATE:

This works but you have to unmount USB first.

I got the ringtones to work, but the notifications and alarms do not recognize if I put them in thier own folder. So moved back to ringtones.

Now I also tried this by making a wallpaper folder in the media folder to see if I could get wallpaper that way, but not found my way to them yet /sigh.

Oh and just put in your SD card root:

Media\Audio\Ringtones
Media\Audio\Notifications
Media\Audio\Alarms

Works for me, mixture of MP3 and WAV files - all seem OK.
