antivirus.com has a free online virus scanner that runs through your web browser.

I fully support anybody who feels more comfortable running such software. I equally support anybody who feels just as comfortable not running it. Neither scenario is better/worse than the other. As always, it's a personal choice.[/QUOTE] I agree with Jonno2k that it is a choice and nether is right or wrong. You can always try one and if you don't like it uninstall it no harm done.

Don't use on-line antivirus scanners

The on-line scanners are often scammers and they require that you boot into your infected OS to use them. That sort of crapware is probably how your computer got infected in the first place. Never, ever click on browser pop-ups from "security" software that says "your computer is/may be infected - click here to run free scan".

Go to a clean computer and download Trinity Rescue Kit and burn it to a CD or USB memory stick. It is a bootable linux distro designed to run multiple anti-virus/malware programs to scan all your computer's attached HDDs including the OS drive, all without booting that PC's OS. When you run the anti-virus scans, be sure the computer is connected to a network so it can update the antivirus, and run multiple antivirus scans using the different programs- some will catch virii/malware that others won't.

I use zenok online backup and I think that is what most of partners uses, it includes free antivirus. Definetly reccomend it.
