Offline GPS

Hello guys, I got my N1 last week and I'm very happy

I'm looking for an offline gps navigator.. is there something good i can use with nexus1?

Google maps are awesome but you need internet connection (or 3g) and that's expensive (+you may be at a place without coverage)

I need something that can use offline maps, I live in Europe- Greece.

I don't know of an app for this, but I don't think you can get turn by turn directions without a satellite following you. You may be able to get a map application that will show you where to go....correct me if I am wrong?

No, misunderstanding
when i say offline gps I mean something with the maps loaded.. of course you'll have GPS On.
with google maps you need gps on + internet (wireless or 3G - to load the maps...)

for example at Nokia phones you can use Garmin navigator..

Try mapdroid
you will have to install it and download the maps you want first, then you will be able to use it offline.
Its quality is less than google maps, but the best thing is it's available offline.

Hey Firemax, what's the best app you've found until now? Did you try Navigon / Mapdroid?

I'm insterested in the exact same thing.

I find a better application.. it's called mavrick
It supports different types of maps (google, bing, openstreet ,etc.) and works offline

With Google Navigation, can I download the maps thru wifi and then go with out...

+1 for maverick. Have it installed on my N1, works great. Just get Mobile Atlas Creator (it's free) and compose preferred layers of maps, than simple copy those files to SDCard.

Maverick looks very nice, but does it actually do navigation? I don't see anything about that in it's documentation.
