Is this what it's like installing all types of skins? BSE/Skinimo/etc? I thought some used water or soap or something?

They use a spray. xoskins came with one. I don't know if skinomi does. bse just comes with the skin and nothing else.

Water works just fine. Just installed a screen protector on mine. Came out good.

From experience, they are not that difficult to remove. Just peel off.
Most of them are washable too, so you can remove it, wash it, then put it back on. (NOT all of them are the same, so don't take my word for it)
