Being really clumsy, my headset cable got tangled in one of the gym equipments I was using (elliptical). My phone got pulled and fell beneath the equipment. It got crushed by the machine >< and it's now bent to a 30 degree angle. The screen's totally cracked...but for some weird reason I think it's still working (I still get alerts, etc...I just can't see them @_@). Should I throw it out and buy a new phone? Or is there still hope for it? I'm guessing none...I'm in tears right now *gah*

Hello there nexus 1 lovers,

Today I downloaded the Manhattan bus map (pdf) which was really useful. However, when I tried to find that file later on, I couldn't find it anywhere on my N1.
I imagined it would somehow just become a sort of apps that I could run whenever I'd want to. Do I need to download these files each time again?

Please help me out on this one,

Feel free to discuss guys.

I am no expert. My Android time is from last September when I first bought my Hero. Now using a N1 for almost 2 months.

From my Hero time, everyone talked about Apps2SD, because of the limited size of ROM and I was not able to install a lot of apps, not to mention those large sizes games. Well, then again back then Hero was not really capable of a lot of games due to its low end hardwares (I did not root it whatsoever).

After the 2.1 upgrade of Hero, I finally got a chance to try a whole lot more apps because a lot of them have a min requirement of 1.6 or above. Once I started having all these apps, I started installing a lot of stuff. Oh well, the low end hardware turned me off so I turned to a N1.

With N1 performance, I am able to do a whole lot more including apps and games. With its performance, I am able to try this and that but then the ROM became full so fast even after the official Apps2SD. Some games are like 15Mb 20Mb and they are still nearly 10Mb after Apps2SD. Likewise to some apps such as Google Earth (over 20Mb), Flash 10 (over 10Mb), Google Map (almost 10Mb), Docs to Go (8Mb), etc and they are not even Apps2SD enabled. The number of apps I installed are so limited.

So I started thinking if Apps2SD is really the future? Many would argue that because 2.2 just rolled out not for too long so lots of app developers have not yet made their apps Apps2SD enabled. But look at most of the new devices coming up, they are 2.1 (upgradable to 2.2) or 2.2 pre-installed with like 8Gb ROM. To name just a few, they are Galaxy S, Moto Milestone 2, etc (I am from Asia). When they become popular, why would developers want to make apps Apps2SD enabled? Plus some widgets wont run on SD anyway.

What do you think?

My name is eric and i had a nexus 1 and loved it. Even better i got fantastic support

Now i have a samsung galaxy vibrant. And while it is suppose to be the top notch like the nexus and i love it, no forum compares to the nexus 1 forum so i hope you don't mind me asking a couple of questions

It is very simple. I am not able to set contacts in my speed dials and i thought that was 1 of the applicationS. That would have been affected once i use the set to default with in the contacts.

In other words for example if i m trying to set a speed dial number 1 for Joe and i pressed his name and he has 2 numbers but i already set 1 as default both numbers will still pop up asking which 1

In the past i thought i was told that setting 1 as default would have corrected that. It did not could you tell me what i did wrong and what i need to do to get this speed dial set

at this point i need to take 1 number out of the contacts set this need all and put the number back it is crazy

First of all thank you
Lastly if i have an application and i have problems with it but i get no response from the maker do i have any recourse with google??
I'm just running a poll. I just want to know how many of us use the N1 sleeve to hold our phones from scratching or whatever might happen to them. Or do you find it troublesome to slip it out of the sleeve every time you use it? Maybe you've got a case for it
Well, tell us all about it.

I do use the sleeve and I just love the little Android pattern on it.

I'm running Cyanogen 6.0 RC3 and I'm just curious on how battery usage because when I woke up and unplugged my phone, I was reading an article on the browser for 10 minutes, and it dropped from 100% to 90% (with one minute phone call in there). The brightness was on 100%, not too sure if it effects the battery that much.

I know it's a smart phone, but 10 minutes of browsing shouldn't take 10% of your battery. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Archos Tablet Tethering to my N1 w/ T-Mobile Policy

So it looks likes T-Mobile official policy is to not allow tethering: Unsupported Browser...

So it looks likes T-Mobile official policy is to not allow tethering: Unsupported Browser

I think I've read somewhere that they don't enforce it though. I'm guessing that's probably the case because my buddy at work has tethered his blackjack phone to mine a few times and I haven't had any complaints from T-Moible. I wonder if they can even tell if our N1's are being used to tether. Does anyone know?

I really hope it's not a problem and they don't charge us for it anytime soon. I want to get the Archos 101 Android tablet http://www.archos.com/ when it comes out, but it only has WiFi capability. That's fine as long I don't have to pay another $20 for tethering capability. If T-Mobile starts to charge for tethering, that would probably be a dealbreaker for me.

Still fun to play around with, though not practical for sketches :(
