I work for them.. trust me. My personal account is set up with the nexus one. I look in the system and it cannot tell by the imei what phone I have. The T-Mobile imei does show up as a nexus one in at&t's system.

I told them what phone I had, and they still offered to drop the plan, and gave me the cheaper data plan. They pretty much do not care what you have, just will offer you what ever their computer lets them after they run the IME.

will this change overtime? i mean does at&t update their database or whatever of IMEI's often...?

I am considering getting another N1 (at&t version) and get away with a $10 data plan.

If it does change, att will send you a text notifying you that they upgraded your service to the proper one. Until then enjoy the $10 dollar option.

Yes you will be notified. Who knows when or if they will.

It'll happen around 5AM and you'll get a text that'll wake you up... that's what I woke up to this morning... But I guess the upside is I'll be in the unlimited plan before they change up all of their data plans...

I just got the notification. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. On the plus side, I'll still be able to get the 5GB limit before they drop it to 2GB.

I was not given an option for a $10 plan either, only the $30 unlim data/web plan was mentioned. The fact the phone was unlocked was known, but never mentioned in regards to lesser payment.

They must have received a updated list of imei from Google and are running them against what unknown devices are on the system.

Yah, I got "auto upgraded" to the $30 plan this morning. I've had the phone for about a month.
