Smile AT&T Data/Voice plan

I ordered my at&t nexus1, and expect it to arrive on Monday, so I was wondering; can I use the $15 Data plan for this phone? also, can I get the cheapest voice plan and use GV to make unlimited calls here in the US?

THANKS IN ADVANCE

DAVE

Officially you have to get the $30/mo "smart phone" plan for data with it.

GV uses your minutes. In order to have unlimited minutes with GV you need to sign up with a plan that lets you add "A-List" to your voice plan (for a single line I believe it would be the $50/mo plan... you need to check that).

If ou get the data plan online during the first days of use with your new N1, you can get the $15/mo data plan. AT&T will be "confused" by the new phone on your account and it won't be able to differentiate between a smartphone and a non smartphone. If you check your account online a couple of weeks later you will notice that a picture of N1 appears next to your phone number at "account details".

As long as AT&T does not recognize your phone you can get the cheap data plan. Otherwise $30/mo.

Yes the can, by the IME number. And it has been reported that AT&T has caught people trying to cheat the system and get out of the $30/plan.

You can't setup a post paid plan online for a pre-purchased phone. If you have a plan already you can make changes to it on your online account.

As of now at&t cannot tell what phone the nexus one is by the imei. So that is great for us n1 owners. I have a family plan and only pay $10 for unlimited data.
