search the forums sparky. But, unless you root it, you wont be able to save them to the memory card. It is rumored that an update will let you do that with out having to root.

I have 60 apps and still have 135mb on the phone's memory. I think there's plenty of space.

You can put all your image, audio and video files on the SD card but as FredyG said, the apps must stay on the phone's memory.

I do have my apps backed-up on the SD card, but they still need the phone's launch program to run, hence the reason they need to reside also in the phone's memory.

If you root your phone you can use a custom ROM(ie cyanogen) and install apps on your SD if it is a must.

Re: How Much Memory

it certainly is a must. I have over 60 apps installed with a lot of them being several mb each and my system storage hasn't been touched.

What is the reason behind the original design decision to only install to the phone's memory and not the SD card?

If i'm reading what you wrote correctly, your worried about losing your custom rom if you send your phone in for repair??

once rooted your warranty with google is gone. Your warranty with HTC how ever is valid if it's a hardware issue. Or if you have square trade you'll have a warranty regardless.

Either way, if you root your phone and do a nandroid back up, then get a new replacement phone. All you have to do is root the new phone and load your old nandroid back up.
